This is our newest program. It is for adults or anyone in the community who wants to learn about
African American culture. We launched last fall on Zoom and had a great time sharing
information on our culture with a strong, engaged core group!
In this historical moment, our experts can help you answer these questions and more:

We are experts in education, history, and culture.
Our sessions provide a safe place to ask all the questions you’ve been afraid to ask.

Featuring: Dr Kesho Scott, Associate Professor of American Studies and Sociology at Grinnell College and an award winning writer. Dr Scott has led hundreds of professional and community-based workshops on “unlearning isms.” She has developed an “affirmative duty” technique for moving people toward being actively and personally anti-racist and anti-sexist.
Also presenting: Jackie Jordan of Marengo speaking on raising biracial children in a small town in Iowa and Pastor Kate West of Belle Plaine on holding conversations on race in rural Iowa.
